The request went before the Planning Committee of Mid Ulster District Council on Tuesday night, and although due to be refused, a source at the council said “members asked for the decision to be deferred”.

The proposed hotel development is to be built between the Glenshane Filling Station on Glenshane Road and Fallaghaloon Road.

It was to be refused on the “basis of road safety”, since “there were no general planning concerns, members asked for the decision to be deferred in order to explore whether another means of access could be achieved”.
