Decline in Carnfunnock Country Park revenue

Overall income at Canrfunnock Country Park decreased during 2015 compared to the previous year, it has emerged.

The details were revealed as part of a report to members of Mid and East Antrim’s Operational Committee.

“It is clear to see that the poor weather conditions at certain periods i.e. May bank holidays and July resulted in a decline in income overall,” the report read. “July, which is traditionally a peak month noticed a substantial decline due to the weather.

“It is also worth noting that there is substantial increasing competition from indoor adventure venues which would have seen an increase in numbers during July due to wet weather.”

Despite this, the availability of new activities at the park was noted to have attracted visitors. “County Antrim Archery Centre was appointed to provide ‘Have A Go Archery’ public sessions at weekends from end of April until September. This proved popular with the public,” the report added.

Meanwhile, the caravan park was noted to be operating at peak capacity at weekends from May until September. “There is no scope for income growth during this time,” members heard.
