Defendant convicted of sex offences against boy

A 58-year-old man will be sentenced in June after he was convicted at Craigavon Crown Court on Wednesday for sexual offences against a boy under the age of 16.

He was Harold David Kelley, formerly of Ballynarry Road, Portadown.

Kelley pleaded not guilty but after a trial which started on Tuesday and finished on Wednesday of this week he was convicted of three offences.

They were the sexual touching of a male under 16 on May 6 last year, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

At a previous court he had been convicted of two charges of while being the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order he associated with young people under the age of 16 without the consent of his Designated Risk Officer on May 6 last year and between March 15 and September 1, 2012.

Kelley was remanded in custody for pre-sentence reports to be obtained.

He will appear again for sentence at Craigavon Crown Court on June 7.
