Defendant swears at Judge

A PORTSTEWART man, on remand for a number of charges including possession of Class A and Class B drugs, caused a rumpus at North Antrim Magistrates' Court last Wednesday.

Steven Dean Patrick McCloskey (19) of Lever Road, swore at District Judge, Richard Wilson, several times during his two minute hearing.

Mr Wilson told McCloskey to be quiet in the dock as the charges were read out. But the defendant responded by saying: "I can hear my dead friend’s voices in my head".

McCloskey became aggressive as the hearing continued and after Mr Wilson told him that he would re-appear before the court on Monday (yesterday) the defendant shouted: "F**k Monday and F**k you too"

McCloskey will re-appear via video link from Hydebank this week.
