Thirty objections have been received to the proposal, mainly from people living beside the Lough who are concerned that any further development there will have a detrimental impact on traffic and noise in the area.

The issue was raised during the monthly meeting of Dungannon Council.

DUP councillor, Sammy Brush, said of the proposal for a change of use: “This is wrong. If there is a change of use, then there will be a change of users and in all likelihood increased traffic.”

Independent councillor, Barry Monteith, asked for the application to be deferred in order for a meeting to take place, while SDLP representative, Jim Cavanagh, said: “These objectors have rights, and this is their last chance to express them.”
