Del Toro isnamed ‘Restaurantof the Year’

A LISBURN eatery has been named the ‘Taste of Ulster Restaurant of the Year’.

Owners Anton and Bronagh Campbell who own Del Toro, a steakhouse and urban grill based in Antrim Street, were presented with their award at a gala evening last Friday night at Belfast’s Ramada Plaza Hotel. The event was hosted by the NI Food and Drink Association (NIFDA).

The couple were delighted to pick up the award. Bronagh said: “We were shocked to win. We thought we would do well but to get the award is just brilliant. All the hard work and dedication from the entire team has paid off and we are delighted.”

NIFDA executive director Michael Bell congratulated all the winners and short-listed companies and paid tribute to principal sponsor Ulster Bank, the judging panel and all ancillary sponsors.

“This year’s awards attracted a record level of entries from a diverse range of producers and organisations throughout Northern Ireland giving the judges an extremely tough challenge” he said. “Each year our members continue to raise the bar and show tremendous endeavour and enthusiasm as they successfully operate in today’s difficult economic climate.”
