Delay goes on over new cinema opening

Craigavon council member Tommy O’Connor has joined the queue of people wondering when the proposed cinema at Highfield will open.

He told the mid monthly meeting of the council that he hoped it would be coming shortly, as many young people were now showing much impatience “with the plan having been passed months ago”.

The planners replied that the approval had been given for the seven-cinema building, which is being producer under the ‘Omniplex’ banner.

But it seems that the firm is having difficulties in finding tenants for the restaurants planned with the overall development.

Nobody can project when the first film will be screened.
