Delays ‘unavoidable’ as major road scheme starts

The scheme, which will cost £145,000, has been announced by Roads Minister, Danny Kennedy, for two stretches of the road.

The Minister explained: “The two stretches to be resurfaced are between the junction with Moor Road and the Cohannon Inn. The work which costs £145,000 will start on Wednesday 21 November.”

No work is planned on the stretch of Ballynakilly Road between the Cohannon Inn and the M1 roundabout.

A road closure will be in place from 8am to 6pm each day from Wednesday morning 21 November until Saturday evening 24 November and from Monday morning 26 November until Wednesday evening 28 November.

Diversion routes will be signposted via Tamnamore Roundabout, M1, Stangmore Roundabout, Moy Road, Dungannon Town and Ballynakilly Road and vice versa.

Vehicles requiring access to lands or premises abutting the closed stretch of road will be accommodated but some delays will be unavoidable.

Traffic will be able to flow freely on Ballynakilly Road between Tamnamore Roundabout and the Cohannon Inn.

A Roads Service statement said: “Roads Service apologise for any delays and thank drivers for their patience during the works.”
