Delight as Lismore’s top grades rise by 10 per cent

Brother and sister Dylan and Alisha Blades between them achieved 11 A*s and seven As, with Alisha receiving seven A*s and two As and Dylan receiving four A*s and five As.

Raymond Hanna, son of teachers Mr R Hanna and Mrs A Hanna, both past pupils of the school, achieved 10 GCSEs - five A*s, two As and three Bs.

Other top performances included: Fionntan Fields, five A*s, three As and one B; Marc Acum, four A*s, four As and one B; Brendan McKendry, three A*s, five As and one B; Caitlin Patterson, two A*s, six As and one B; Shannon Hoy, two A*s, six As and one B.

Also, Kirsty Comac, two A*s, three As, three Bs and 1C; Chloe Metcalfe, two A*s, three As, two Bs and one C; Chloe Austin, one A*, five As and three Bs; Oisin Doran, one A*, six As, one B and one C.

Principal Mrs Fiona Kane said, “We are very pleased at the excellent GCSE results achieved by our students. In Lismore we know that a pupil’s ability is not fixed at age 11 and so we collectively work hard to continue to raise the expectations of all of our students to enable them to achieve their potential.

“The ‘value added’ by the educational experience offered in Lismore is clearly evident today with a 10 per cent increase on last year in the top grades at GCSE. The hard work and professionalism of all staff including our subject teachers, form tutors, heads of department, heads of year, supported by the senior leadership team, have all contributed to this success.”

She added, “The ethos of Lismore is very much characterised by the sense of family with school being an extension of the home and I would like to thank all of our parents who work in partnership with us to draw out the best in their child and thank them for their continued support.

“Exciting times now lie ahead for our students as they choose their Level 3 subjects and I look forward to welcoming them back into sixth form.”
