Dementia roadshow to visit Dunmurry

THE UK’s Dementia Community Roadshow will visit Dunmurry Tescos next Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2 to provide information and advice about the condition. The estimated number of people in Northern Ireland who suffer from dementia in 2010 stood at 17.765 and is expected to rise in 2021 to nearly 25,000.

The Roadshow will be open to visitors between 10am and 4pm. People who are currently living with dementia, are worried about a friend or relative’s memory, or just have questions about the disease are encouraged to drop by with no appointment necessary.

In addition the Lisburn Dementia Carers Education Group will meet again on Thursday February 2 at 7.00pm in the Old Department of Psychiatry at the Lagan Valley Hospital. Dr Bob Brown, Assistant Director Primary Care and Nursing will be speaking with the group.

This meeting provides an opportunity to meet and gain support from other carers and to receive information about dementia and relevant issues. New members will be made most welcome.
