Denied owning cannabis
A 21-year-old man was fined £200 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for possession of cannabis on July 23 last year.
Shane McMahon, whose address was given as Deeny Drive, Lurgan, was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard he was stopped in a car at a checkpoint in Victoria Street and a search uncovered a small bag of cannabis.
McMahon initially denied ownership and said someone had given it to him.
He had no previous convictions for this kind of offending.
McMahon pleaded guilty himself at last week’s court.
