Deputy Mayor elected

UUP Deputy Mayor John Stewart is the first Carrickfergus candidate to be elected to the new Mid and East Antrim District Council.

He topped the poll in Carrick Castle District Electoral Area with a first preference vote of 939 and was elected on the third count (total 1,010).

Mr Stewart, who became a father for the first time last month to son Cohen, said; “I am absolutely delighted to have been elected and topping the poll was an additional bonus. I am very pleased to be a Carrick representative on the new council which is very important too.”
