Derelict buildings warning from police

POLICE are urging young people not to enter derelict outbuildings in Cullycapple, which they say have become a meeting place for some young people.

Neighbourhood Constable James Smyth is concerned for the safety of those gathering in the area who may not be fully aware of the dangers involved.

He said: "Derelict buildings often have many hidden dangers including crumbling or falling masonry, rotten timbers, and numerous trip hazards that can catch out the unwary.

“I don’t want to see anyone being needlessly injured, and would urge people to keep out of these buildings, and to recognise that they are not a safe place to be."
