Derry and Donegal Presbytery notes

AT the latest meeting of the Derry and Donegal Presbytery, the Presbytery nominated Rev. Norman Hamilton, Ballysillan, Belfast as Moderator of the General Assembly.

He received nominations from ten other Presbyteries and is to take up the post in June when the Assembly meets in June.

Mr. William McKinley, Editor of the Presbytery News Magazine told the meeting the latest edition was now ready.

"A number of contributions arrived late, some without any indication of where they were from and pictures with no captions," he declared.

He asked that any material for inclusion in the next edition is to be with the printer or himself, the editor, fully identified, by May 14.

Mrs. Ann Wilson presented the Report of the Presbyterian Womens Link for the year 2009. "As we in the PW began a new chapter under the

banner of the Presbytery of Derry and Donegal, we did so with Mrs. Olive Borland as our Chairperson.

“It has been a challenging and encouraging year with 778 members representing 42 congregations," she said.

She reported that contributions to the Mission Fund Home and Overseas amounted to 24,178 and 18,153euro plus membership fees of

1,363 and 1,190 euro. The Birthday Project Fund raised 2,792 and 1,754 euro to give support to Nightlight and women in Indonesia.

Activities during the year included a well attended rally in Ray with Gary and Mary Reid as speakers, a Ladies' Breakfast meeting in

Londonderry with Marie McCarroll as speaker.

"The theme for the past year," Mrs. Wilson went on, "has been 'All Things New' and encouraged us to examine our lives in the light of God's Word, to remember that His compassions are new every morning and that He can create in each of us a new heart.

“The theme has been very appropriate for us as we have visited new venues and met with new PW groups."
