Dervock planning scheme welcomed

North Antrim Ulster Unionist MLA Robin Swann has welcomed the decision by Ballymoney Borough Council to re-submit a planning application for new facilities including a community hall in Dervock.

“This application gives some comfort to the local community who have invested much time and effort through various engagement processes facilitated by the Rural Development Programme to identify their needs,” said Mr Swann.

“These have clearly highlighted the priorities of the community and it is important that those with responsibility to deliver services to the community respond appropriately. Ballymoney Borough Council have already made significant commitment to invest in Dervock and this application comes at a time when significant money is available through the Rural Development Programme for capital projects. It is important that this proposal is delivered in full and that Ballymoney Council take the opportunity to save the rate payer money accessing the European funds that are available.

“I look forward to a quick response from the Planning Service and a successful bid for additional funds so that the people of Dervock can have the community facilities they deserve.”
