Design a Chritsmas card for BARK

THE Coleraine Times has teamed up with Benvardin Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) for a very special competition.

The dog shelter at the former Safari Park looking for budding artists from local primary schools to design its official Christmas card.

Shaun, from BARK, explained: "Since Louise took over the kennels from the USPCA, we have all been overwhelmed by the generosity and support shown by Times readers, and this is our chance to give something

back.

"We thought it would be a nice idea to have an official Christmas card this year to send out to all those kind people who have sponsored us, dog owners who have adopted dogs from us, and those who have helped

any way.

"At this time of the year we find that people no longer want their older dogs and they bring them to us to make way for a new puppy for Christmas - hence the important saying 'a dog is for life, not just for

Christmas'. We want our Christmas card to drive home this important message."

The competition is open to all primary schools in the Coleraine Borough Council and Ballymoney and Moyle Council areas. The Christmas card design must be no bigger than A4 size and must be dog related.

Entrants should include their name, age and school.

Entries can be posted to Nichola Forgrave, The Coleraine Times, 5 Stone Row, Coleraine, BT51 3QS and the closing date is Friday

November 26.

There will be prizes for the top three designs -a 75 gift voucher, a fish tank starter kit and two fish and a large stuffed dog, sponsored by Jollye's and Pets at Home, and the winning design will go into print to become the official Christmas card of the dog shelter.
