Design a superhero mascot competition

A NEW competition will allow pupils at Primary and Special Schools across Northern Ireland the opportunity to create the official Mascot for one of the world’s largest sporting events - the World Police & Fire Games, which will be held in Northern Ireland in 2013.

The Games Board and competition sponsor, Northern Bank, are encouraging schools to get creative and design their own Superhero Mascot for the 2013 Games.

Schools will be asked to submit their entry and Northern Bank has enlisted the help of Cahoots NI, who will work alongside up to 40 shortlisted schools to bring their superhero mascot character to life through performance and illustration workshops.

The overall winning design will be created to become the Official Mascot for the 2013 Games and will be unveiled at the winning School in June 2011. The Mascot will be showcased on the world stage during the closing ceremony of the 2011 World Police & Fire Games in New York, in August, when the Games are officially handed to Northern Ireland for 2013.

All Primary Schools and Special Schools in Northern Ireland will receive the competition pack. Teachers can also download the competition details and entry form from the C2K Exchange Site or the World Police and Fire Games website www.2013wpfg.com. The closing date for entry is Friday 11th February 2011.
