Detectives renew appeal for information about brutal murder

Detectives investigating the murder of 36-year-old Daniel McKay in Longlands two years ago have renewed their appeal for information.

Mr McKay was shot several times by at least two armed men as he sat at home in Longlands Road at approximately 8.30pm on October 25, 2012.

A total of nine arrests have been made in connection with the investigation into his murder, but so far no-one has been charged.

“Danny’s family and friends deserve answers as well as justice. We are working to secure these objectives but we need more assistance from the community,” said Detective Chief Inspector John McVea.

“Before the murder, five masked men entered a house at Dunore Court in the New Lodge area of North Belfast and forced the occupant to hand over his silver Volkswagen Bora car, registration number KLZ 9787. At 8.50pm, this car was found burnt out in Ardmoulin Place in the Lower Falls area of West Belfast. I believe this is linked to the murder,” he continued.

“Anyone with any information about this brutal murder, anyone who saw the silver Volkswagen in the Belfast or Newtownabbey areas on that evening, or anyone who may have seen a dark coloured saloon car being driven in a suspicious manner in the Longlands area in the days leading up to the murder, is asked to contact us at Seapark Police Station on 101.”
