Detectives renew appeal over Ballyduff robbery

DETECTIVES from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch have renewed their appeal for information following a kidnap and robbery in the Ballyduff estate last month.

At around 6pm on Friday, May 21 three men entered a property in the Ballyfore area and threatened two female occupants, one aged 64 and the other in her 20s, before tying them up. A 25-year-old male who was also in the house was told to go to his work, a scrap metal dealers in Mallusk, where he was to remove a substantial sum of money and take it to a location in Glengormley. The males remained in the house with the women while he did so.

No-one was hurt during the incident, but all three victims were left badly shaken by their ordeal.

Investigating officers are keen to speak to a woman who was seen putting a child into a blue car at around 6.10pm in Ballyfore Gardens that day, as well as the driver or owner of a silver Vauxhall Vectra taxi which was parked in Glenvarna Drive, Glengormley, adjacent to the Sunrise Sandwich Bar. It is thought there was a male passenger in the front seat reading a newspaper.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Newtownabbey Station on 0845 600 8000, or to call the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
