It’s also garnered a reputation as a platform for talent from around Ireland to shine alongside these dance floor heavy weights.

This year’s line up is arguably the strongest yet. Highlights include Carl Craig, a true innovator in his field, who has been one of the most influential figures in electronic music for the past 20 years and has a whole host of accolades including a Grammy nomination and is considered to be amongst the world’s best djs.

It’s something of a coup for the festival, as this will be Carl’s only Irish festival date this year and it will see him bring his 20 Years of Planet E Communications tour to Londonderry.

Ulrich Schnauss returns to Londonderry for his second Celtronic appearance. It was only a matter of time before his return to the city after his superb appearance at the 2009 festival.

There is something quite unique about the music that Schnauss offers up, in that a lot of electronic music can simply lack emotion or soul.

His particular brand of music is so lush and filled to the brim with emotion. He manages to draw upon a whole host of influences, from shoegazers such as My Bloody Valentine, to Krautrock acts like Tangerine Dream and electronic royalty like Brian Eno. All these influences are wrapped up into his own unique style and he a must hear for any music lover.

One thing that Celtronic strives to do and has succeeded in doing since its inception is to showcase the talents of Irish based acts alongside their globetrotting counterparts and this year is no different.
