Development is refused

A PROPOSAL to erect a total of 22 new properties at Castlwellan Road, Banbridge, has been turned down by the Planning Service.

The application from the Estate of Muriel Forsythe was for five detached houses, eight semi-detached houses and nine townhouses to be built at 122 Castlewellan Road.

Planners said the proposal was contrary to the Department’s policy on ‘Quality Residential Environment’s in that the applicant had failed to demonstrate that the proposal would create a quality and sustainable residential environment.

It was also turned down on the grounds it was contrary to the Department’s planning strategy for rural Northern Ireland and would “adversely affect the amenity of neighbouring developments”.
