Devenney is fullybehind expansionof Magee campus

The new DUP MLA for Foyle, Maurice Devenney has said that he is fully behind the campaign to expand the University of Ulster Magee campus.

The Foyle MLA said: “During my time as Mayor of Londonderry I formally launched the One Plan alongside the then Chairman of Ilex, Sir Roy McNulty.

“Within the plan, there is a clear vision in terms of how the university expansion will be one of the key drivers enabling the successful regeneration of our city.

“The plan envisages 9,400 full time equivalent students at Magee by 2020, a target which we need to ensure becomes a reality. With recent statistics showing that the Foyle constituency has the highest unemployment rate throughout the UK, the expansion of our University is essential.

“It has considerable potential to expand and generate a significant catalytic impact on the local economy in terms of skills and jobs.

“I will continue to work to ensure that the vision we all set out through the One Plan will be implemented and I strongly believe in the need for the expansion of the University here in Londonderry.”
