Devenney praises Hay after MLA appointment

Londonderry’s newest MLA, Maurice Devenney, has praised his predecessor after being appointed by the DUP to take over William Hay’s role in the NI Assembly.

Maurice Devenney said: “I am delighted to have been selected and once again, I want to thank my party for selecting me to fill the vacant position that Willie has left here due to his resignation.

“I always, first of all, would like to pay tribute to the work that Willie has carried out for the last forty years of local government and in the Assembly.

“Yes, I have a big role to fill but one thing is I am up for it.”
