Dhu varren residents asked for views on estate

LOCAL people in Dhu Varren estate are being asked to give their views about how to improve their estate.

The Area at Risk programme has been operating in the Dhu Varren estate in Portrush for two years, and its success is being evaluated. The programme has included a number of estate clean-ups, summer schemes, computer classes, community festival and much more.

Angela McDonald, Project Worker with the Dhu Varren Community Action Team said: “We have been working hard with the local community to provide a range of programmes and activities for younger and older people, in order to improve the social and economic well being of people in the estate. We have also undertaken a number of clean ups and worked closely with public bodies.

“I hope that people in the estate return the questionnaire that they will soon receive. Hearing people’s view about the work that has been done, and that continues to be needed, is vital to us as a tool with which to promote future funding of the project.”

Rubicon Consulting is managing the valuation and Peter Osborne from Rubicon said: “We hope the questionnaire will be completed and returned. It is a short questionnaire and will take literally a minute to complete. All returns will be returned to us here and will be dealt with totally confidentially.

“Getting local people commenting on the success of a programme such as this is really important, as they are ultimately the beneficiaries who should have most to say.”
