Diabetes UK Coleraine Groups start up again

THE Diabetes UK Coleraine Voluntary and Parents Groups are starting up again after the summer break and will be holding their next meetings at the end of September to help people with diabetes and parents of those with diabetes to meet others and learn more about living with the condition.

The Voluntary Group meeting will take place in Seminar Room 1 of the MDEC Unit in Causeway Hospital and will begin at 7.30pm on Monday, September 27.

Members will hear from guest speaker Eamonn Quinn, Operations Manager of the Retinopathy Screening Project about the importance of annual eye screening.

The Parents Group will hold a social evening at the Bowling Alley in the Jet Centre, Coleraine, on Wednesday, September 29 at 7pm. Places are limited so booking is essential and anyone interested should contact Lenor or Rhonda on 028 2766 3430.

Diabetes UK Northern Ireland is also encouraging members of both the Voluntary Group and the Parents Group, or anyone interested in volunteering with the charity, to attend the free Volunteering Conference on Saturday, September 25.

The conference will give volunteers and supporters the opportunity to find out about diabetes research developments, meet other people who live with diabetes and hear accounts of activities taking place in Northern Ireland.
