Did you see Colin at The Playhouse?

POLICE are studying the results of a post-mortem carried out on Coleraine man Colin McLeister on Sunday.

Detectives from PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch last night charged a 34-year-old North Antrim man with manslaughter.

They also want to talk to patrons who were on the first floor of The Playhouse complex on Main Street around 12.50am on Saturday morning and who saw Colin before he went down the stairs to contact them.

Mr McLeister was found lying at the bottom of the stairs and, although an ambulance crew tried to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. They are appealing for anyone who witnessed an altercation on the first floor of The Playhouse to contact them.

A post mortem examination has been carried out and the results now form part of the police investigation. The results are not being disclosed at this time.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Ian Magee said: “This investigation is very much in its early stages, we are trying to ascertain exactly what happened and that is why I need these people to think about what they saw whenever they were in the Playhouse.

“Did they see Colin McLeister? Did they see him before he went down the stairs at ten to one in the morning? If they did, please contact us.”

Another police source said: “There was some sort of altercation before, during or after the fall and whether it was a contributing factor or connected with his death we are not sure.”

Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to call the detectives at Portrush Police Station on 0845 600 8000 or confidentially, Crimesoppers on 0800 555 111.
