Digitil story telling in Ballymoney

Would you like you gather those life long memories and turn them into a digital story…..?

Well then the Verbal Arts Centre is offering anyone `Over 50` the opportunity to take part in their second `iStory - Digital Story Training Programme` which is currently being held at the Ballymoney Community Resource Centre.

The first iStory training programme is drawing to a close; over the past five weeks the participants have learned and developed new found skills, which has enabled them to create a digital story on an iPad.

One of the participants from the first training course said `I had no prior knowledge of creating a digital story until I came on the course. I now have the ability to create a digital story and can’t believe how user friendly the iPad is. The course has given me the confidence to further my IT skills.`

What is a digital story? ……. A digital story is told by weaving photographs, video recordings, narrative, text and music together. It is a simple way for ordinary people to share aspects of their life story. Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling, using images as well as words. You provide the images and the words to create your vision and we will help you make that vision a reality.

Digital Story telling is a resource that is widely developed and used throughout our daily lives enabling us to capture real people with real life stories. The programme is developed and delivered by the Verbal Arts Centre for anyone in the community who is `Over 50` and would like to learn and develop the skill.

The programme is funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland under the `Arts and Older People Programme`, in association with Age NI. The second programme is due to begin on the 16th April 2012, one morning per week for a five week period.
