The Graham’s Ice Cream staff member will have her hair cut to raise money for Banbridge’s Donard Special Care School and the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

She will also donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair to cancer treatment.

Dionne said: “I wanted to do something nice.

“I’m a mother myself with a healthy boy and some people don’t have that.

“I have my hair tied up all the time anyway and I thought I should give it to someone who needs it.”

Dionne is raising the money for those particular charities as they were a big help to Loughbrickland girl Darcy Coyle, who sadly passed away a few years ago after she lost her fight with the rare genetic and incurable condition Neonatal Adrenoleukodystrophy (NALD).

Doctors had said she would not live beyond the age of 10 but Darcy defied the odds to reach 12 years and five months.

Dionne said: “This really is a random act of kindness and I would like it to give people hope that there are still some people out there who like to help others for no reason other than to help them.”

The haircut will take place on June 9 and donations can be made by calling into Grahams Ice Cream shop in Dromore.
