'˜Dirty road' blamed for crash

A motorist who caused a two car accident on a Lurgan road was banned from driving for six months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Konrad Gorgol (32), River Glade Manor, Lurgan, was also fined £75.

The court heard that a road traffic collision took place on February 12 last year on the Kilvergan Road, Lurgan. There was damage to the front offside wing and bumper of the defendant’s car.

The other car was also extensively damaged after Gorgol’s car had pushed it off the road and into a telegraph pole.

The defendant accepted responsibility at the scene of the collision.

Gorgol did not appear in court but did send a letter.

In it he said there was a problem with the condition of the road and this part of it was dirty and slippery.

He admitted it was his mistake and fortunately no-one was hurt.

Imposing the ban District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said that if the defendant’s licence was produced in court she would consider reviewing the disqualification.
