Disability group launch

Deputy Mayor, Alderman Thomas Kerrigan, helped launch the Disability Employment Network at the Guildhall recently.

“This event was about encouraging employers to consider their options more widely when next recruiting or even look at what training or work shadowing opportunities they could offer to people with disability,” he said.

Kay McIvor, Equality Officer with the Council said the Council was delighted to be involved in providing the platform for the Disability Employment Network to host this event.

“Whilst Council do not have expertise in issues concerning people with a disability it does have a role as a civic leader to work with groups such as the Disability Employment Network and provide a platform whereby they can get this important message of support and help out to employers,” she said.
