Disabled man left homeless in Cookstown

A man who was left profoundly disabled after a car accident moved to Cookstown from the Republic of Ireland to complete a course, but found himself entitled to little or no help from the state.

Mature student Gerard Haugh is now homeless and living in the MUST Hostel in Cookstown after he was turned down for financial assistance to complete his course. He moved to Mid-Ulster in good faith, to complete a Foundation Degree in Engineering and Manufacturing.
