He is described as having black spiky hair and spoke with a local accent - but had his face covered with a scarf.

It is understood the driver spoke to one of the children, but made off when they refused to talk to him.

The incident, which was reported to PSNI Dungannon on Wednesday afternoon, has been shared on the force’s Facebook page.

“We’ve received a report of a blue Transit-sized van with tinted windows acting suspiciously close to a group of children as they walked home from school on Wednesday afternoon in the Coalisland area,” the post said.

“The driver spoke to one of the children and is described as having a local accent, spiked black hair and a scarf up over the bottom half of his face. The child refused to engage in conversation with the driver and he drove off.

“Although no offence has been committed, we’re keen to hear from anyone who might’ve seen a similar van in the area, or may be able to identify it and the driver. There could be a perfectly innocent explanation! Please phone us on 101 if you can assist.”
