A PSNI spokesperson said: “Officers are currently investigating and believe that those involved in these crimes visit the premises to have a look around before returning to carry out a theft. In some of these cases the perpetrators changed their appearance and clothes.”

Sergeant Duncan McBain, Lurgan Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Business owners must assess their property to reduce any opportunity for theft and make their premises more secure.

“Businesses should consider installing CCTV and using time delay locks on safes. Reduce the amount of cash you have in your tills regularly and make sure you transfer it to a safe - preferably in an occupied office.

“Ensure that doors to private areas are kept locked and only accessible to staff. Valuables belonging to staff, such as handbags, wallets, coats and mobile phones, should be kept in these secure areas, preferably in locked cupboards or lockers.”

If you would like more advice on making your premises secure you can contact your local crime prevention office at Lurgan Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
