Disorderly in hospital

A MOSSIDE man has been given a suspended sentence for being disorderly at Coleraine's Causeway Hospital as a judge said such behaviour in an emergency department can never be acceptable.

Robert Corey McHenry (20), of Community Walk, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday June 20 in relation to the incident at the hospital on May 23 and admitted the offence.

A prosecutor said police were at the hospital and the defendant was swearing and was told to move away.

A defence solicitor said no members of medical staff were inconvenienced.

He said McHenry had too much drink taken and was at the hospital with a friend who had been assaulted.

Imposing a two months jail term, suspended for a year, District Judge Peter King said such behaviour was unacceptable in the grounds of hospitals and said the only thing saving the defendant was that no staff or patients were inconvenienced.
