Display time for 1st Glenwherry BB

FIRST Glenwherry Company of the Boys’ Brigade recently held their 39th Annual Inspection and Display in the Presbyterian Church Hall where they presented a varied and interesting programme of games, drill, vaulting, a comedy sketch and Bible sketches.

Inspecting Officer was the recently installed Minister of the Church, Rev Noel Mulholland who, in his report, congratulated the boys on the excellence of their display and commended them on the hard work and preparation they had done.

He reminded those present also of the ‘about turn’ that was necessary so that people would not be walking away from Jesus but be walking with Him.

Five Boys` were presented with the Queen`s Brigade, the highest BB award, while three others received the President’s Badge, the second highest BB accolade and two boys,

Three other Boys` were awarded with the President`s Badge, being the second highest award, and two boys - Houston Alexander Bonnar and Matthew Wilson McDowell - gained the DofE Bronze Award

It was also pointed out that the Company Section had won the Ballymena and District Battalion Volley Ball Competition for the third year in succession.

Anchor Boys: Junior Scripture, 1st Jake McGivern and Ben Vance; runner up. Sam Hoey, Cruz McNally

Senior Scripture: 1st Alex Buchanan; runner up, Matthew McConnell.

Junior Craft: 1st Ben Vance; runner up Cruz McNally. Senior Craft: 1st Robert McConnell; runner up Matthew Farquhar.

Highest collector for Eilish Degnan Cancer Foundation: 1st Matthew McConnell; runner up Ben Swann.

Best Squad and Team: Robert McConnell, Matthew McClernon, Jake McGivern and Ben Vance.

Best 1st Year Boy: Kris Harkness.
