District hit by burglary spree

Detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime are appealing for information following a number of burglaries in Rathfriland and Loughbrickland.

Sometime between 7.15am and 9.30pm on Tuesday, 8 March, entry was forced to a house in the Cross Heights area and a quantity of jewellery and sum of cash stolen.

In a further two incidents entry was forced to a house in Sleepy Valley, Rathfriland between 8pm and 10.15pm and to a house in Bovenett Heights, Loughbrickland between 6.45pm and 9.50pm.

Jewellery and cash were stolen in both burglaries.

Detectives also believe that a further incident may be connected to these burglaries.

Around 8.15pm a male travelling in a dark coloured car, possibly a Mondeo, was observed looking and searching around a house on Rathfriland Street, Loughbrickland.

The male drove off when he became aware of being observed.

He is described as being approximately 6ft 1in tall with short, fair hair.

He was wearing a zip up coat and jeans.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who has information which may assist their investigation and can be contacted on 101.
