Diversity Park on hold as Council seeks new tender

A new play park planned for Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart has been put on hold, as a new tender is sought.

The park, aimed at both disabled and able bodied children, had been agreed by Coleraine Borough Council in December.

The cost of the park, in the region of £247,000, is coming from the Landfill Community Fund.

At a meeting of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council on Tuesday night, Coleraine DUP councillor George Duddy asked for an update on the park. He told the meeting that he understood that the lowest tender for the work had withdrawn their bid, and that the re-tendering process would be started again.“The losers here are the children,” said cllr Duddy.

A statement from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council confirmed the lowest tender submission for the Diversity Park was withdrawn, resulting in Council progressing a re advertising opportunity for a new tender in July 2015.
