Kerry, 24, will travel to Zambia this August to work with Christian relief and development charity, Tearfund.

She said: “Mum and I love to bake and so it was the obvious fun and tasty way to raise funds for my trip. The cake stands were heavy laden with sweet treats from my Nana, my Auntie, my Godmother and best friends. I was so grateful for their help, Mum and I were up to midnight baking buns!

“The coffee morning brought me one step closer to my £1,500 target which will provide me with the opportunity to work alongside Tearfund’s partner organisation in Zambia and support them in the work they’re doing to combat poverty.

“The project I’m working on is based in a ‘Transit Centre’, a safe place for children who have been rescued from the street where they can make the transition from street life to a restored childhood.

“I’m really excited to get out there to work alongside and learn from my global family from whom I have much to learn about love, justice and bringing an end to poverty.”

Wendy, a teacher at Lurgan Junior High School, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who came along and gave so generously to the cause. It made all the stirring, melting and mixing worthwhile!”
