Do Ballymoney and Moyle consumers know their passenger rights?

The Consumer Council is reminding holidaymakers in Ballymoney to be aware of their rights, following reports that thousands of UK travellers suffered significant flight delays last year.

Jenny Robinson, Transport Policy Officer at the Consumer Council said: “Many of us will head off and our journeys will go to plan. However, it is important to know your rights if something does go wrong.

“If your journey is delayed or cancelled, you are entitled to assistance and in some cases compensation. Assistance can be meals and refreshments, telephone calls and emails, and overnight accommodation while you wait.”

Jenny concluded: “We encourage all consumers to get a copy of our guides. We have ‘Plane Facts’ for your rights if your flight is delayed or cancelled and ‘Access to Air Travel’ for those flying with a disability or mobility issue. We also have ‘Plain Sailing’ for your rights if your ferry is delayed or cancelled and ‘Access to Ferry Travel’ for those sailing with a disability or mobility issue.

“We also have travel rights podcasts which are available to download from the Consumer Council website www.consumercouncil.org.uk. Consumers who would like more information, or have a complaint they have not been able to resolve, can contact the Consumer Council on 0800 121 6022, or via facebook or twitter. The Consumer Council represents those travelling into or out of Northern Ireland and can investigate unresolved complaints on passengers’ behalf.”
