Do you have time to volunteer for charity?

THE charity Children in Crossfire is appealing for local people to get involved with the organisation and make a difference to the lives of young children living in poverty overseas by volunteering at fundraising events over the summer months.

The charity has a busy schedule planned, including flag days (street collections) and supermarket bag packs at a range of locations.

“We’re looking for people who can spare some time over the summer months and are available to help with flag days and bag packs during week days,” said fundraiser Mark McMahon.

“This might include people who are on their summer holidays from university or school, or anyone else who might be looking to do something different and add some variety to their lives. Volunteering is a great way to get out and meet new people and, best of all, be part of something that is making a real difference to the lives of young children who are living in some of the poorest communities in the world.”

Children in Crossfire is also gearing up for Volunteers’ Week which starts today, Wednesday, with a volunteer roadshow at Foyleside Shopping Centre, one at North West Regional Technical College on June, as well as at the Volunteers’ Fair at the Millenium Forum on Tuesday 7th June. “These events offer a great opportunity for people who are interested in volunteering to come along and find out more and I would encourage people to do so as volunteering is a ‘win-win’ situation for everyone”, comments Mark McMahon.
