Doagh Collision: Burn Road reopened to traffic

The Burn Road in Doagh has reopened to traffic following a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in the early hours of today.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with “serious injuries” after being struck by the car.

The PSNI said the incident involved one vehicle, and happened on The Burn Road, Doagh.

A spokesman from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they received a call about the incident at 12.15am and arrived at the scene around ten minutes later.

“We got reports of a pedestrian having been hit by a car and we took him to Antrim Area Hospital with serious injuries,” he said.

A PSNI spokesman said the Burn Road has now reopened to traffic.

He said: “The pedestrian, a man aged in his 50s, has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are believed to be serious but not life threatening.”

The man was transferred from Antrim Area Hospital to the Royal Victoria Hospital where his condition has been described as “serious”.
