Dobbies launches call-to-action to get communities growing

THE first Dobbies Garden World in Northern Ireland, which will open off the Saintfield Road in six weeks time, has announced a £4,000 Here We Grow bursary, a community campaign which offers free equipment, support and expertise to the local community to get growing.

The company wants to hear from local community groups, projects, schools and charities who need help to plant and grow in their gardens. There's over 4,000 worth of gardening equipment and plants available to groups in Lisburn or surrounding areas. Lisa McAlinden, Dobbies community champion for the brand new store said: "We're aiming to bring a new generation of garden centres to Northern Ireland and we've launched Here We Grow to help our local communities develop gardens in their area so everyone has the chance to appreciate the wonders of local green space.

"Here We Grow also aims to show people that gardening can be a fun, inexpensive and an easy way to stay healthy. We hope that Here We Grow will inspire more people in Lisburn, Belfast and surrounding areas to get growing!
