Dobson hails the biggest ever Gospel Fest

Local MLA Jo-Anne Dobson has praised the organisers of Gospel Fest 2014 which was held over four days in Donaghcloney.

The annual event, now in its fifth year, attracts both local and international artists and is attended by up to a thousand people at a time.

Jo-Anne said: “It is wonderful that Gospel Fest, the brainchild of Roy Dreaning is now recognised as the premier Gospel music festival in the British Isles.

“Roy’s dream, to see the cream of local and international gospel music praising God under one roof has been achieved and exceeded as the event gets bigger every year.

“On Sunday afternoon, making their first appearance at Gospel Fest, the fantastic Belfast Community Gospel Choir enthralled the crowds. The choir certainly deserve their position as the Northern Ireland Gospel Music Choir of the Year.

“Those of us who appreciate Gospel Music owe a huge debt of gratitude to Roy, Colin, Sam and the army of volunteers for working so hard year on year to ensure the event runs so smoothly. Every single year the Fest gets better and better and the effort they put in really shows as the crowds get bigger too.

In conclusion the local Ulster Unionist MLA said: “This was the fifth annual Gospel Fest and given its huge success I know so many people can’t wait for Gospel Fest 2015 – I am sure that plans are well underway.”
