Repeating a call by party leader Mike Nesbitt for the Executive to meet now to resolve the crisis, Jo-Anne said: “This isn’t an impending crisis - it has already begun – and if left unresolved will have a very real impact on public safety.

“None of us know when we may need to call on the skills of our health professionals and that is why a resolution to this crisis is so important - let us work together to resolve this now before we have a winter health crisis on our hands.

“That is why I supported this week’s early recall of the Health Committee to enable us to question the Minister, a meeting at which he will have to answer many of the outstanding questions which are concerning so many people.

“My party is totally clear that, for us, this issue is not about politics. It is about people’s lives and that is why it is vital that the Executive meet urgently, not in two week’s time, to reach a resolution and protect the public.”
