The commitment came in the form of an answer to an Assembly Question tabled by the Upper Bann Ulster Unionist MLA.

Mrs Dobson said: “The current forms which are issued by the Housing Executive are lengthy and complicated, making life difficult for many tenants, especially the elderly.

“In one incident I represented an 80 year old lady from Gilford who had been sent 12 different letters in one day making it totally impossible for her to understand exactly what she owed. Indeed this was certainly not an isolated incident.

“I am pleased that the Minister for Social Development has said steps are being taken to improve and simplify these letters.

“However, the proof of the pudding will be in the delivery and I will be watching carefully.”
