Doctors close for Twelfth

The Health and Social Care Board has been working with local GPs and GP Out of Hours service providers to ensure that local people are aware of GP opening hours on the July Bank Holiday.

GP Practices in the Western area will be closed on Thursday, July 12, 2012.

Western Urgent Care, the GP Out of Hours Service, will provide urgent medical care for problems that cannot wait from 6pm today Wednesday, July 11 until 8.30am on Friday, July 13, 2012.

Patients requiring access to a GP from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm on Friday, July 13 should telephone their GP practice as usual as first point of contact to ascertain GP service provision arrangements by individual practice.

The Health and Social Care Board together with local GPs urge the public to check their medicines to ensure that they have sufficient supplies to cover the public holiday period.

There is still time to order repeat prescriptions from your doctor and to collect your medicine from your local pharmacy.

Western Urgent Care will provide GP Out of Hours services during the weekend of July 14-15 as is usual for the weekend. Members of the public are reminded that this is an appointment only service. Patients must ensure that they have called in advance to agree an appointment before arrival.
