A Carrickfergus woman was given a two-year conditional discharge after being charged under the Welfare of Animals Act (NI) 2011.

A post on the Facebook page of the group ‘Northern Ireland says no to animal cruelty’ read: “[Ghostie] had to spend over a year in kennels before she could be released for rehoming.”

For a long time, she hid food under her bed, the post continued.

“[She] has lived with her new owner now for almost two years.”
