Dog goes shopping for the morning papers at Cookstown supermarket

A Cookstown supermarket got an unexpected customer this morning when a husky-type dog was found wandering its newspaper isle.

The Hub’s Carol Doey said just before 10am this morning [Saturday] that Supervalu was going to hold on to the plucky pooch until its owner turned up to take them home.

But after a few hours, management at the store realised the pup wasn’t much good at stacking shelves, and it was taken to Parklands vets where a quick scan of their microchip provided the owner’s details.

Pooch and famaily were reunited just in time for afternoon tea.

“The dog has been reunited with its owners,” Carol said on Facebook. “We left it down to Parklands and they scanned the chip and pin and it is now happy in its home xx”

A happy ending for all involved.
