A rope rescue operation was carried out and Pippa the dog was recovered to the top of the cliff, with just minor injuries.

The Coastguard urged all dog owners to keep their pets on a lead when walking near cliff edges.

If your dog has fallen, do not attempt to rescue it yourself but dial 999 and ask for Coastguard.
