Dog wardens issue warning about unwanted dogs

The call comes after a Council warden picked up a stray lurcher in the Ringsend area back in February.

Dave Sexton, Council’s Dog Warden takes up the story, “A Council Warden had taken the stray dog to Margaret at Graham’s Kennels. The dog did not have a micro-chip or any form of identification and since the dog had not been claimed she was put up for re homing and had been offered a new home when Margaret discovered the Lurcher was pregnant.

“The Lurcher later delivered five puppies. The puppies are now nearly six weeks old and will be successfully re homed at eight weeks.

“I am now appealing on behalf of Council that if anyone has difficulties looking after their dog to contact a member of the Dog Warden Team. Coleraine Borough Council would like to remind residents that Council provides a free micro-chipping service and that dog owners must have their dog micro-chipped before licensing, dog should have identification on it at all times.”
